Snorkelers from all around the world have selected Xel Ha Natural Park, in the Riviera Maya, Mexico (73 miles South of Cancun), as their favorite place to snorkel, because of infinite variety of colorful fish from the Caribbean take shelter in the placid lagoon where the fresh mixes with the Ocean streams.
Xel Ha Park introduced one of the most innovative and safest diving activities created by Sub Sea Systems, Inc. especially for non swimmers (over eight years old) who want to enjoy the lagoon’s underwater marvels, one the most popular attractions in Xel Ha, Mexico. To walk and breathe that is all you need to have a Sea Trek experience.
Sea Treak consists in a walk on the seabed with a helmet which provides the necessary oxygen without a tank, allowing you to explore the underwater life without giving up your precious vacation in Cancun for specialized training.
With Sea Treak you walk in gravity zero at a depth of approximately 15 ft while surrounded by incredible aquatic life by wearing a specialized Sea Trek® observation helmet. During the adventure, you will have the opportunity to interact with stingrays and other species like horse mackerels and you will learn how to direct the dolphins through a series of hand signals.
The entire Sea Trek activity takes about one hour including a bilingual orientation about Sea Treak which takes approximately 10 minutes and the underwater exploring which takes about 25 minutes.
Sea Treak (Xel Ha Cancun/Riviera Maya) received in 2009, the “Best Sea Trek Operation” award over other locations; in Mexico, Jamaica, Aruba, Turks & Caicos, St Maarten, Grand Caymans, Dominican Republic, St. Lucia, Japan, Malaysia, China and United States.
During the award giving, the chairman of Sub Sea Systems, Inc., Jim Mayfield, stated that Xel Ha Park excelled on customer service quality, guest comments, safety standards, and overall commitment and innovation to provide the highest quality over 40 Sea Trek locations worldwide that competed for this prestigious award.
One of the noted efforts by Xel Ha Park includes hiring a world-renowned marine biologist and stingray behaviorist to train Xel Ha’s staff on the proper handling and treatment of wild stingrays that frequent the Sea Trek site each and every day, Jim Mayfield highlighted.
The “Best Sea Trek Operation” Award was received by Elizabeth Lugo, Executive Director of Xel Ha Park and Rosanna Roth, Water sports Manager, who thanked the honor and highlighted the commitment to keep continuously improving.
